Daily Sketch 8/31/2011

I definitely did not want to draw a boy and I think it shows. But I have to force myself to practice if I want to get better. Had to do this one without a reference because I was parked on the couch with a cat on my lap watching Toddlers and Tiaras.

Daily Sketch 8/30/2011

Today's sketch was done without any references however the shape of the dress and oversized bow is based on Ayane from Dead or Alive. I love her outfit in the game, but I'm not crazy about her hairstyle or attitude. So my version features twin tails and cherry blossoms. Since I drew without a reference, I hope it comes off that she is slightly bent forward instead of having an extremely short torso.

This looked so much better in my head than how it actually turned out. But then I did wait until the very VERY last minute to get it done for today. But I accidentally fell asleep on the couch...I guess only getting five hours of sleep the night before was just not enough. Here is my attempt at Rikku from Final Fantasy X. I referenced the pose, but not the hair and outfit so it might not be as detailed as her actual outfit.

I was able to do a sketch well before bedtime for once and as a result, I was able to put a little more detailing into this one. And there was a lot of detail! So much that I had to leave quite a few details out because I was getting tired and starting to get sloppy. Halloween Doodles

Just some little Halloween doodles I made for fun. Trying to come up with some cute ideas to make into magnets for my daughter to play with for this upcoming Halloween.

Here is my attempt at a male character: Crono from Chrono Trigger. He's still kinda girlie looking and rather short in stature. I guess that's why I need to work on my males a bit more! :)

I really, really did not want to draw tonight and as a result waited until the last minute. I was definitely too tired to put much effort into this one. I did not feel very inspired and when I turned about I saw my daughter's Raggedy Ann doll and decided to draw that. Since I haven't practiced boys much, I decided I would throw in Raggedy Andy for the hell of it. Oye...practice, practice, practice!

I had a bad day today. My manual labor job has me coming home tired, sore and with a bad headache day in and day out. But I really want to make the effort to get my sketch in every day - even when I can't put my full effort into it. Still, at least I can tell that it's supposed to be Lenalee from D. Gray Man. I hope that's what everyone else can see, too.

Today's sketch is Nami from One Piece. One of my next projects is to try to sculpt a figure and this is one of the possible poses I want to do. I used a reference for the pose as I really need to work on making the figure look more natural.

Both kids went down for a nap, so I got this sketch done fairly early in the day. Maybe if I have time tonight, I'll try for a second sketch. This one was done using a reference of a Dollfie Dream doll of Neris from Shining Hearts. If I had the money for a Dollfie Dream, this would definitely be one of the ones I choose. I love the outfit and face on this doll! Too bad I didn't discover Dollfies before I met my husband - it's difficult to justify spending $1000+ on a doll. Oh wells, for now I'll just have to settle on pictures that other dollfie owners post on the web. Works for me!

Daily Sketch 8/20/2011

Well, I was going to add my sketches from the previous days, but I got lazy. So instead I'll start with today's sketch...which I did right before bedtime...again. I used the figure of Kureha from Shining Wind as a reference. Maybe one day I'll be able to draw without a reference...but not today!

My Online Sketch Pad!

After drawing off and on for years, I've come to the point where I'm not really improving much when I really need to be honing in on my skills. So recently I've started challenging myself to make at least one sketch per day. I don't really want to post all my sketches to my deviant art account as some of them are rather bad. (I do a lot of sketches right before bedtime, so they come out looking rushed and half-assed.) And so, I have created this blog so I can showcase my progress. I hope to someday become polished enough to open up commissions. I shall start off showing what I have so far in the next post.
